About Me
The Friendly Pet Sitter is owned and operated by myself, Amy
Crowson. Since the start of summer 2006, I also have a
great helper named Christine. She is a pre-vet student at
the UofC, a pet food nutritional consultant for Hill's, a foster
"mom" for Oops-a-Dazy Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, and also
volunteers with the Humane Society and Girl Guides.
Another huge animal lover, she has been a great addition to The
Friendly Pet Sitter.
I began pet
sitting in 2002 while working on my Zoology degree at
university. The casual nature of the job worked great with my
schedule, plus it was fun! I started up The Friendly Pet Sitter
in March of 2004, after the pet sitting company I was working
for closed down. I retained many of my clients whose pets I had
cared for with the other company, and have since built up a
great & loyal client base.
As for myself personally, I am an animal nut! I have 3
cats and a dog of my own - I used to have 5 cats, but sadly,
they just don't live as long as we do. I also have 3
beautiful children; my son who was just born on July 28th, and
my daughters who are 1 1/2 and 5 years old. My kids have at this point taken
over rank in my household hierarchy, so I likely won't be
replacing my furry friends as the poor things pass on. So,
no new pets for me for awhile, which makes it twice as much fun
for me to be able to come and enjoy all of your pets!
Animals
have always been a huge passion of mine and
I have never wanted to do anything but work with animals.
With university as my starting point,
I worked on my Zoology degree
off and on over the last several years, completing 3 years of
the program. I think I still might finish it someday (only
another year to go), but for now I am enjoying running my own
business and the flexibility it offers me to do the things I
enjoy and spend time with my children. Being a
professional pet sitter is just as rewarding as anything I could
have expected to do with a Zoology degree and I like it alot!
